For the first time after a longer break there should be a federal participation in NEFTEGAZ in March 2020. The VDMA had also lobbied the BMWi for this. Due to the Corona Pandemic, the trade fair was initially postponed to 22 - 25.6.2020 - now the event has been cancelled this year.
You can register for the upcoming KHIMIA federal participation until 24.7.2020. Due to the current situation, the BMWi allows all participants to cancel at short notice and free of charge. This offers all interested parties a maximum of financial and planning security. VDMA and Messe Düsseldorf will be happy to advise you. Please contact us!
After the Hanover Fair, IFAT Munich has now also been cancelled. Abroad, the national participations at Neftegaz on 22 - 25.6.2020 (originally 13 - 16.4.2020) as well as CIPPE Beijing on 3 - 5.7.2020 and WATREX Cairo will now be filled to capacity on still unknown dates. Further events are affected.
The business trip to Baku will take place from 23 to 27 November 2020. The industry focus is on the oil and gas sector and petrochemicals.
IFAT 2020, which has already been postponed, will be cancelled and the next IFAT will be held in 2022.
The corona pandemic is hitting the mechanical engineering industry harder and harder. The industry is increasingly feeling the effects of the corona pandemic in terms of order losses and cancellations. According to the VDMA flash survey, many companies are making capacity adjustments.
The DGUV (German Statutory Accident Insurance) publishes a series of information in its current newsletter of the month April, offering companies assistance in the current corona crisis.
The current special permit in Germany for the use of non-CE-marked personal protective equipment (PPE), which would be marketable in the USA, Canada, Australia or Japan, is not limited to its use in the medical and nursing field. The BDI received notification to this effect from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) on request.
The order intake in process engineering in February is significantly below the figure for the entire mechanical engineering sector and has fallen very sharply compared with the same month last year.
Increasingly, companies are currently confronted with the question of how to deal with the fact that testing institutions are unable to carry out legally required tests at all or on time due to the corona crisis.
The situation has worsened in the mechanical engineering sector and in individual trade associations - around three-quarters of process engineering companies are now experiencing disruptions in their operations
China largely responsible for growth
The overall high response rate shows the strong relevance for machine and plant manufacturers and enables special evaluations for a trade association.
The theme of this year's World Water Day is "Water and Climate Protection". It is intended to draw attention to the fact that climate change is posing considerable challenges for water management worldwide. The last two dry summers have shown that even a water-rich country is facing changes. For the water sector, this means that it must adapt to the new climatic conditions.
The 42nd BImSchV stipulates, among other things, that evaporation cooling systems, cooling towers and wet separators must be regularly tested for legionella. In March 2020 UBA prepared an updated recommendation to standardize the procedure for testing.
At the suggestion of the VDMA, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is again sponsoring a German joint stand at ADIPEC in 2020. The registration documents will be made available very late this year, at the end of March. It remains to be seen how many companies will register now due to the COVID .19 crisis. The VDMA is currently informing itself about possible withdrawal regulations. We recommend to clarify the cancellation policy with the implementing company HMC before registration.
Additive manufacturing (AM = Additive Manufacturing) is becoming increasingly important in numerous branches of mechanical engineering. Manufacturers in plant and apparatus engineering have also recognized the advantages and possibilities that result from this new technology for some years now: Complex designs - hardly realizable with conventional methods - as well as repairs or modifications required at short notice suddenly become possible with the new technology.
Following the postponement of the Hanover Fair (new: 13 - 17.7.2020), IFAT Munich (new: 7 - 11.09.2020) and Analytica Munich (new: 19 - 22.20.2020) have now also been postponed. Outside Germany, the national participations at Neftegaz on 22 - 25.6.2020 (originally 13 - 16.4.2020) as well as CIPPE Beijing (new: 3. - 5.07.2020) and WATREX Cairo are now being filled up on as yet unknown dates. Further events are currently being added almost on a daily basis.
Europe as a stabilizer of the growth path
The new VDM tool was developed especially for the mechanical engineering industry and has been available to member companies since March 2020.

Europe as a stabilizer of the growth path

EU-28 as stabiliser for the growth path
The German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to increase their exports to more than one billion euros for the first time in 2018. Compared to the previous year, exports increased significantly (plus 3.9 percent) to around 1,038 million euros (2018) compared to around 999 million euros (2017).
Export market China booming with 54 percent growth
German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to stabilise their exports at a high level in 2017. Compared to the previous year, exports rose slightly (plus 0.4 percent) to around 993 million euros (2017) compared to around 990 million euros (2016).
We only need water for drinking, cooking and washing, right? Not even close! Water is in everything around us – from paper to clothes, computers and cars. Do you know how much water runs through your hands every day without you knowing it?
The German manufacturers of components and systems for water, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to maintain their exports in 2016 at the high level of the previous year (minus 0.1 percent)
In 2015, the German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to increase their exports by nearly 3 percent.
At the special show "Process Industry 4.0: The Age of Modular Production" ISPE, NAMUR, ProcessNet, VDMA and ZVEI show how the flexibility of plants in the process industry can be significantly increased through modularization.
China largely responsible for growth
After 5 years of steady growth, the German production of process machinery and equipment dropped by 10 percent to 6.9 billion euros in 2015. Exports of process engineering machinery and equipment reached a volume of 5.5 billion euros. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to last year.
ACHEMA from 11th to 15th of June 2018 is the leading exhibition for the manufacturers of process plants and equipment. Richard Clemens, Managing Director of VDMA Process Plant and Equipment Association is pleased „that her in Frankfurt we will once again have an opportunity to see “live” and for ourselves what German engineers have to offer when it comes to process plant and equipment. For the manufacturers of process plants and equipment ACHEMA takes place in an economically positive surrounding.
Making the world a good deal cleaner, conserving resources and maintaining good air and clear water - that requires state-of-the-art mechanical engineering. Around 3,300 exhibitors are demonstrating at IFAT in Munich that the technologies are ready to efficiently separate and recycle recyclable materials, clean water from plastic waste or purify polluted air. The machine manufacturers from Germany play a leading role here.
