The symposium "Operation Excellence and Energy Efficiency "Made in Germany" in the Chemical & Petrochemical Industry", sponsored by the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Energy, will take place virtually on 26.01.2021 and will provide interesting insights into the Mexican chemical and petrochemical industry.
From 7 - 9 September 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is again planning a German joint stand at ECWATECH, WASTECH as well as NO-Dig. The experience of the past few months confirms that most trade fairs in Moscow have to make do with lower exhibitor and trade visitor numbers, but still take place. The VDMA therefore recommends participation via local offices or representatives, as entry to Russia from abroad remains very uncertain.
In contrast to the mechanical engineering sector as a whole, new orders for process engineering in November 2020 are significantly below the previous year's level. Sales are also down 6 percent on November 2019.
For the 20th NEFTEGAZ Moscow trade fair at the end of April, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is once again offering a joint German stand at very favourable conditions. Of course, foreign trade fairs are not very popular at the moment, but Russia and China are an exception: while trade fairs in the Far East have long since returned to pre-pandemic levels, they are still taking place in Moscow - albeit with fewer exhibitors and trade visitors. VDMA members who are heavily involved in Russia are quite successful in participating in trade fairs in Russia via their local staff - according to the findings of the last VDMA Market-TALK Oil Gas Petrochem Russia in November 2020. Participation could therefore make sense.
The VDMA International Trade Fair lists for process technology and water technology are is updated regularly. The latest versions can be downloaded below.
After the forced cancellation of the 2020 edition, the date for the next POWTECH is now fixed: the bulk materials exhibition in Nürnberg will be held in late summer 2022, unlike originally planned.
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) has published the Occupational Medicine Recommendation (AME) of the Committee for Occupational Medicine (AfAMed) on dealing with employees in need of special protection in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
Due to the corona virus there are hardly any trade fairs abroad. However, one of the very few exceptions will be CIPPE, the leading trade fair for oil & gas and petrochemical technology in Beijing, at the end of March. The BMWi has confirmed the event at the beginning of December, after 8 German companies, the majority of which are members of the VDMA, have registered. Of course, these companies will primarily send local personnel to CIPPE, unless China reopens the borders for foreigners by then.
At the suggestion of the VDMA, the Federal Ministry of Economics has again approved a federal participation in OGA Malaysia 2021. Due to the pandemic, however, it is completely open in which form the fair will take place. We therefore recommend clarifying the cancellation conditions with expotec, the implementing company commissioned by the BMWi, before registration.
The event on 14 December will present a selected market segment of the future study of German textile research as well as the latest textile research results.
Following the cancellation of IFAT 2020, Messe München is providing exhibitors on the way to IFAT 2022 with a new digital platform in the form of AHAED by IFAT.
The order intake in October sends relaxation signals for both process engineering and the entire mechanical engineering sector. Thanks to domestic demand, the order intake in process engineering rose by 18 percent compared to the same month last year. Sales are also up 8 percent on the October 2019 figure.

The use of chemical substances is to be made traceable without interruption from production to end use in order to minimise risks to people and the environment.
From 16 to 18 November, the Fachverband Verfahrenstechnische Maschinen und Apparate captured a picture of the mood in the industry and then presented it to the participants at the general meeting on 20 November 2020. 53 member companies took part in the flash survey.
After consultation with leading exhibitors and associations in the exhibition advisory board, DECHEMA, as organizer of the world's leading trade fair for process technology, has postponed ACHEMA from mid-June 2021 (originally 14 - 18 June 2021) to 4 - 8 April 2022. The ACHEMA Pulse lecture program will take place from 15 - 16 June 2021.
The Association Information on the new information requirements for substances in articles from the EU Waste Framework Directive provides an overview of the topic and deals with the national implementation.
At the general meeting of the trade association, companies from all sub-sectors of process engineering machine construction meet - this time virtually. The focus of this year's event is the exchange of information on the economic situation and the situation in key markets in times of a pandemic.
While the signs of a slight recovery in order intake for the mechanical engineering industry as a whole in September, order intake in the process engineering sector remains dramatically below the previous year's figures. Orders are down 65 percent in real terms compared with the same month last year. Sales are also down by 6 percent. The third quarter ends disappointingly for Process Engineering.
The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) together with the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) has conducted a company survey on the implementation of relevant occupational safety and infection protection measures.

Europe as a stabilizer of the growth path

EU-28 as stabiliser for the growth path
The German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to increase their exports to more than one billion euros for the first time in 2018. Compared to the previous year, exports increased significantly (plus 3.9 percent) to around 1,038 million euros (2018) compared to around 999 million euros (2017).
Export market China booming with 54 percent growth
German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to stabilise their exports at a high level in 2017. Compared to the previous year, exports rose slightly (plus 0.4 percent) to around 993 million euros (2017) compared to around 990 million euros (2016).
We only need water for drinking, cooking and washing, right? Not even close! Water is in everything around us – from paper to clothes, computers and cars. Do you know how much water runs through your hands every day without you knowing it?
The German manufacturers of components and systems for water, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to maintain their exports in 2016 at the high level of the previous year (minus 0.1 percent)
In 2015, the German manufacturers of components and systems for water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment were able to increase their exports by nearly 3 percent.
At the special show "Process Industry 4.0: The Age of Modular Production" ISPE, NAMUR, ProcessNet, VDMA and ZVEI show how the flexibility of plants in the process industry can be significantly increased through modularization.
China largely responsible for growth
After 5 years of steady growth, the German production of process machinery and equipment dropped by 10 percent to 6.9 billion euros in 2015. Exports of process engineering machinery and equipment reached a volume of 5.5 billion euros. This is an increase of 1 percent compared to last year.
ACHEMA from 11th to 15th of June 2018 is the leading exhibition for the manufacturers of process plants and equipment. Richard Clemens, Managing Director of VDMA Process Plant and Equipment Association is pleased „that her in Frankfurt we will once again have an opportunity to see “live” and for ourselves what German engineers have to offer when it comes to process plant and equipment. For the manufacturers of process plants and equipment ACHEMA takes place in an economically positive surrounding.
Making the world a good deal cleaner, conserving resources and maintaining good air and clear water - that requires state-of-the-art mechanical engineering. Around 3,300 exhibitors are demonstrating at IFAT in Munich that the technologies are ready to efficiently separate and recycle recyclable materials, clean water from plastic waste or purify polluted air. The machine manufacturers from Germany play a leading role here.
