The order intake in October sends relaxation signals for both process engineering and the entire mechanical engineering sector. Thanks to domestic demand, the order intake in process engineering rose by 18 percent compared to the same month last year. Sales are also up 8 percent on the October 2019 figure.

While the signs of a slight recovery in order intake for the mechanical engineering industry as a whole in September, order intake in the process engineering sector remains dramatically below the previous year's figures. Orders are down 65 percent in real terms compared with the same month last year. Sales are also down by 6 percent. The third quarter ends disappointingly for Process Engineering.

August 2020 was not a good month for German process engineering, as order intake and sales remain very clearly below the level of the previous year. Orders are down 42 percent in real terms compared to the same month last year. Sales are also down, at minus 30 percent.

Orders in the Process Technology Division remain below the previous year's level in July. Orders fell by 21 percent in real terms compared with the same month last year. At minus 4 percent, sales are close to the previous year's level.

The slump in orders in process engineering accelerated massively in June. Orders fell by 89 percent in real terms compared with the same month last year. In contrast, sales increased by 441 percent compared to the previous year's level.

Orders also remain on a downward trend in the Process Technology Division. As expected, the significant decline in new orders continued in May. Orders fell by 21 percent in real terms compared with the previous year. Sales in May were also 12 per cent below the previous year's level.

The rate of change in new orders in process engineering in April is below the figure for mechanical engineering as a whole. New orders are also down very sharply compared with the same month last year. Sales, on the other hand, were significantly higher in April than a year earlier.

At the end of 2020, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) will leave the European Union. This has direct consequences for the placing of products on the British market, which are regulated by European harmonization regulations (e.g. Machinery Directive). Among other things, the CE mark established in the European Economic Area will be replaced by a UKCA mark in Great Britain in the future.

The report contains a brief outline of the chemical and oil & gas industry in Singapore including an overview of the most important process technology users such as Shell, ExxonMobil, BASF etc. as well as information on interesting addresses and contacts.

As part of the VDMA-initiated Petrochemical and Chemical Industry Business Trip Argentina (27 - 30 March 2017), a target market analysis "Oil and Gas Sector in Argentina" has now been published on behalf of the BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy). On 54 pages the most important market data on the energy sector, the oil and gas industry, refineries, pipelines and to some extent the chemical sector are presented.

On the occasion of the market reconnaissance trip "Erdölchemie Tartastan und Baschkortostand" in autumn 2017 the BMWi commissioned a target market analysis. The 70-page study contains general information on the oil & gas sector in Russia as well as interesting facts and figures on petrochemicals in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. It also contains lists with basic information and contact details of the leading 20 or so petrochemical companies.

On 28 and 29 January 2020, almost 40 mechanical engineering experts met at the VDMA Oil Gas Petrochemicals Spring Meeting at R. Stahl in Waldenburg. Under the title "Oil - Gas - Petrochemicals Focus on Explosion Protection & Innovative Gas for Europe", the VDMA was once again able to recruit proven experts for the programme. The event started on the evening before with a champagne reception at the invitation of the host R. Stahl.

On March 12, 2018 a delegation of 23 senior IOCL managers met with VDMA members to discuss the future role of alternative fuels such Hydrogen, LNG and energy efficiency. VDMA gave an introduction on the German Energy Transition and the consequences for the maritime and petrochemical sectors. Germany’s industry is faced with various challenges connected with the decarbonization. An efficient energy transition in Germany and Europe will only work if the power, transport and heat markets will be coupled via power-to-X technologies. VDMA members offer power-to-X solutions already today.
